sustainability in mind.
Products and packaging that is made from recycled materials.

Built with purpose.
Casio has always been environmentally conscious. For many years Casio calculators have featured solar panels, to minimise energy wastage and battery usage. Casio calculators are well known to last and perform for many years, both from a physical durability and electronics reliability perspective.
The new ClassWiz+ range provides a unique opportunity for calculator users to invest in a product that is designed and produced with sustainability in mind. Using between 45% and 90% recycled plastics within the calculator body of the fx-85GT CW+ calculator models.
All Casio ClassWiz+ models packaging is also made from recyclable cardboard, and reduces the use of plastics even further, as part of Casio’s ongoing commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by using recycled plastics and adopting paper packaging to decrease virgin plastic usage.

A more sustainable calculators future
Casio has an ongoing commitment to reduce CO2 emissions by using recycled plastics and adopting paper packaging to decrease virgin plastic usage. This includes objectives and commitments to ensure;
• A plastic recycled material utilization rate of 40% or more
• Use of environmentally conscious paper packaging
• Use of lead-free solder in electronic parts
• Use of batteries and casings that enable easy removal for separate disposal
• Specified chemical substances must not exceed standard values compliant with RoHS directives

Post-consumer recycled (PCR materials
CASIO is advancing the use of PCR plastic (Post-Consumer Recycled plastic) in calculator main bodies. PCR plastic is recycled plastic made from plastic products that consumers have used and disposed of. Using PCR plastic helps reduce waste and virgin plastic usage, thereby reducing the environmental impact of plastic use.
New products are created using material that has been sorted → cleaned → crushed → property-enhanced → pelletized from used consumer products (home appliances, electronic devices, etc.) collected from the market.
For black models, PC monitors are mainly used as source materials, while air conditioners and other home appliances are mainly used for white and coloured models.
The recycled materials used in a selection of Casio calculator models have received GRS PROD certification as recycled materials that conform to this international standard.

Recyclable packaging
At Casio Education we are committed to improving our impact on the planet and to preserving our environment. Our ClassWiz range of calculator packaging uses recycled materials.
We’re converting our calculator packaging to paper for over 1,000 calculator models sold around the world.
By converting to paper packaging, the total amount of plastic used is projected to decrease by approximately 79% PROD compared to the past (based on a comparison among Casio products). As a result, the amount of plastic used is expected to decrease by approximately 340 tons* annually.
*Based on production volume for the period from April 1, 2022, to March 31, 2023
In addition, the size of the packaging has been reduced to allow for more units to be shipped at one time, which contributes to a reduction in CO2 emissions.
The fx-85GT CW+ uses environmentally conscious materials for the protective bag that wraps the product. This has reduced the amount of plastic used by 70% compared to traditional wrapping.
