Partial Fractions

Learners are guided to explore the graphs of sums of simple algebraic fractions and to categorise the shapes that are obtained. They are guided to notice that the more complicated algebraic fractions give the same set of graphs leading to the possibility of expressing them as partial fractions. The need for an algebraic solution is established and the graphs can then be used as a check for the algebra.
