FAQs
Obtaining an emulator or licence code
Unfortunately, the emulator is no longer available for these calculators. This model was discontinued in early 2019 and replaced by the fx-83/85GTX. You can request the emulator for that model.
It depends on your setup. Network (simultaneous or concurrent user) licences are easier to install and manage, and give you maximum coverage of classrooms as there is no limit on the number of devices. We give full advice during the request process. You can also review the technical documentation.
Licence codes work in groups of calculators – Scientific, B&W Graphic, Colour Graphic. Each group shares a common code. We support you through the request process on this.
Yes, it will work for 90 days as a full version and then cease to be available. The trial will only work if the emulator has not been previously installed on your device. You can then request a free licence code (if eligible) or purchase a licence.
Please download the latest version here.
You can have a mix of network and standalone licence codes for each emulator group, but there is a limit on the total of free licences per emulator group per institution. We encourage you to think carefully about which is best before requesting the licence code.

Only the ones on the list
Unfortunately free licences are only available from Casio UK if you are located in the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands or Ireland. Please refer to your local Casio office for details of availability in your country.
The emulator has been designed as a teaching tool, not a learning tool. We only provide emulators to teachers.

Licence code request issues
Licence codes are sent by email. Here are a few things you need to try first, before we are able to help you with this issue
– Check your inbox after 24 hours- in most cases the email is sent within 24 hours of making the request
– Check your spam or junk folder
– Check with your IT if you have network wide email filters – this causes non-receipt in the vast majority of cases. IT need to allow casio.co.uk through filters.
We can re-issue your codes if: you have already received emulator licence codes and would like them again you have completed your request and appear not to have had an email with the codes or an explanation within 3 days of completing your full request (including IT details)
We have to limit the number of users per institution in order to keep licences free. The number of licences you require is typically the same as the number of teachers in the maths department, or the number of classes being taught with a calculator in any period. We recommend a network licence to achieve best coverage of all classrooms.
Yes, but you must have admin permission on your computer for the installation.

If you manage IT across multiple schools, each school needs a separate request. Please apply by entering the school name. You can still use your own name in all the applications.
Installation is the process of installing the emulator software on your computer. You require admin rights for installation. Activation is entering and verifying the licence code. The process for activation depends on the type of licence (network or standalone).
Unfortunately the only installer we have is an EXE. You can deploy it centrally using the Silent Install instructions that came with the download.
The Casio Network License Server for Windows and Sentinel RMS License Manager are not intended to run on Windows Server OS. The supported operating environments are Windows 8.1 and Windows 10.
You can request both network and standalone licences up to the limit for your school (typically the number of maths teachers). This may help if for example a teacher works from home but cannot access the school network.
We recommend that you only have one type of licence (standalone or network) on a device. If the network licence is installed, the emulator will search for this if it was the last licence used on the device. If it cannot find the licence server on the network it will use the standalone licence. This takes time and so can be frustrating. A standalone licence will work everywhere, so a network licence is only required if the standalone has expired.
However you can install a network and a standalone licence code on a single device if you wish. We recommend that you install the network licence first. Then install the standalone licence through the Help/Activation menu or use the silent install.
If the emulator itself will not install, please check that:
You are using a supported Windows or Mac operating system
You have extracted the install file from the zip file. The install will not work if you drag the install file out, or run the install file within the zip file. Please see your OS documentation for how to extract a zip file.
Please download the latest version of the software.
Re-imaged discs count as an additional device as it is a fresh installation. Please use any spare codes you have, or request more. The total number of users is limited per emulator per institution. A network licence overcomes the problem of re-imaged discs as the number of simultaneous (concurrent) users does not increase.
You can use the same ClassWiz codes in the emulators for the fx-991EX and the fx-83/85GTX
You can use the same fx-CG Manager codes in the emulators for the fx-CG50 and the fx-CG20
You can use the same fx-Manager codes in the emulators for the fx-9860GII/fx-9750GII and the fx-9860GIII
Please refer to the Silent Install manual. This came with the download.
Emulators work as a standalone application, and cannot work within ActivStudio.
Yes, just install the new codes in the license server. No need to redeploy to the clients unless the server’s IP address has changed.
Yes, please download the It Management file
Documentation & specification
Emulators for scientific calculators and B&W graphic calculators work on Windows. Emulators for colour graphic calculators work on Windows and macOS.
Unfortunately not.
The emulators will work on tablets that run Windows. Unfortunately they are not available for other OS on tablets.
Casio UK only distributes the calculators listed. If you have another model you can use our international education site, but unfortunately Casio UK is unable to support these models.

macOS (OS X) 10.14, 10.15 and 11.0
Yes, if you are a teacher. Standalone licence codes will continue to work. If you have a network licence code, you will need to connect to the school’s network (probably though a VPN).
