Obtaining an emulator or licence code

Is there an emulator for the fx-83GT PLUS or fx-85GT PLUS? chevron_right

Please see this answer

Is a network or standalone licence best? chevron_right

It depends on your setup. Network (simultaneous or concurrent user) licences are easier to install and manage, and give you maximum coverage of classrooms as there is no limit on the number of devices. We give full advice during the request process. You can also review the technical documentation.

Do I have to make a separate licence code request for every calculator model? chevron_right

Licence codes work in groups of calculators – Scientific, B&W Graphic, Colour Graphic. Each group shares a common code. We support you through the request process on this. If you already have the codes for a calculator group, please click the appropriate link in this answer.

How do I update my emulator? chevron_right

Please download the latest version here.

Can I just download the emulator software? chevron_right

Yes. Please download here. It will work as a trial version unless you have a valid licence code.

Is there a trial version of the emulator? chevron_right

Yes, you can download it here. It will work for 90 days as a full version and then cease to be available. The trial will only work if the emulator has not been previously installed on your device. You can then request a free licence code (if eligible) or purchase a licence.

I have a standalone licence code. Can I get a network code? chevron_right

You can have a mix of network and standalone licence codes for each emulator group, but there is a limit on the total of free licences per emulator group per institution. We encourage you to think carefully about which is best before requesting the licence code. Please note that any one device can only have either a network or a standalone licence for each emulator.

Is there an emulator for calculators you don’t list? chevron_right

This question is answered in the documentation & specification section. Please click here to go to the answer.

I’m located outside UK and Ireland. Can I get a free licence code? chevron_right

I have licence codes for the fx-991EX. Can I install the emulator for the fx-83/85GTX (and vice versa)? chevron_right

Can I install emulators with free licence codes in multiple schools? chevron_right

If you manage IT across multiple schools, each school needs a separate request. Please apply by entering the school name. You can still use your own name in all the applications.

What is the difference between installation and activation? chevron_right

Installation is the process of installing the emulator software on your computer. You require admin rights for installation. Activation is entering and verifying the licence code. The process for activation depends on the type of licence (network or standalone).

The computer disc has been re-imaged and the emulator no longer works chevron_right

Re-imaged discs count as an additional device as it is a fresh installation. Please use any spare codes you have, or request more. The total number of users is limited per emulator per institution. A network licence overcomes the problem of re-imaged discs as the number of simultaneous (concurrent) users does not increase.

Licence code request issues

I made a request but haven’t received my licence codes chevron_right

Licence codes are sent by email, here are a few things you need to try first, before we are able to help you with this issue;
- Check your inbox after 24 hours- in most cases the email is sent within 24 hours of making the request
- Check your spam or junk folder
- Check with your IT if you have network wide email filters – this causes non-receipt in the vast majority of cases. IT need to allow casio.co.uk through filters.

You can check other causes here.

Did my request for licence codes reach Casio? chevron_right

If you are a teacher and asked IT to request the licence codes, please check that they have completed the request.

If you completed the IT section of the request, please check that you received our acknowledgement email, including checking spam and network filters. Please allow casio.co.uk through filters. If the request is older than 7 days you will have to make a new request if you have not had the acknowledgement.

If you have checked the spam and network filers, please contact us at emulator@casio.co.uk. We will re-send the email, but please be aware that it will go through the same filters.

I get a message ‘You have already made the request’ chevron_right

The link URL for the request can only be used once.

I have been told I have exceeded the licence limit. What can I do? chevron_right

We have to limit the number of users per institution in order to keep licences free. The number of licences you require is typically the same as the number of teachers in the maths department, or the number of classes being taught with a calculator in any period. We recommend a network licence to achieve best coverage of all classrooms.

I don’t have IT support. Can I still install licence codes? chevron_right

Yes, but you must have admin permission on your computer for the installation. Please ensure that you complete both the initial and IT sections of the licence code request.
