Welcome to Casio Education’s fx-CG50 On-Demand Training course

By following this course you will learn how to use the fx-CG50 effectively and efficiently. The course is designed to be a hands-on and practical demonstration of features for teaching, learning and examining primarily at A-Level Mathematics, but also  for other advanced courses such as AQA Level 2 Mathematics, Edexcel Level 2 Mathematics, OCR FSMQ and Core Maths.

Foundations of the fx-CG50

The purpose of this first module is to introduce you to navigating the fx-CG50 handset and performing common calculations in calculation mode. In this module you will learn to:

(1) Reset the main memory, thus clearing calculation and variable memory and defaulting to radian angle measure and initial graph settings.

(2) Use keys to navigate menus and enter data, incl. main menu, shift, alpha and set-up.

(3) Perform basic calculations in Run-Matrix mode incl. fractions, exponentials and roots.

(4) Use the ANS history function, MATH menu, variables and perform further calculations such as logarithms and exponentials.

Run-Matrix on the fx-CG50

This module extends use of Run-Matrix to include numerical calculus and solving equations numerically. In this module you will learn to: (1) Use the numerical solver SolveN to completely solve polynomial and other equations exactly. (2) Use SolveN to evaluate solutions to restricted domain trigonometric equations. (3) Use derivatives to evaluate functions at a point, find turning points numerically and solve equations. (4) Use and evaluate definite integrals numerically and solve equations.

This module introduces you to Graph mode and the graphing functionality of the handset. In this module you will learn to: (1) Graph cartesian, polar and parametric functions. (2) Change graphing view windows and use zoom settings to optimise the displayed graph. (3) Perform common graphical analysis of functions using Trace and Graph-Solve.
