ALGEBRA AND FUNCTIONS LEVEL 2
In this Algebra and Functions Level 2 course the trainer will cover the following topics:
- Algebra and functions
- Coordinate geometry in the (x,y) plane
- Sequences and series
- Preparing for the new A-level Maths specification will also be addressed.
By attending this course and covering the topics you should be to achieve the following using a Casio graphic calculator:
Understand and use graphs of functions; sketch curves defined by simple equations including the modulus of a linear function. Understand and use composite functions; inverse functions and their graphs. Understand the effect of combinations of simple transformations on the graph of y=f(x).
Understand and use the parametric equations of curves.
Work with sequences including those given by a formula for the nth term and those generated by a simple relation of the form xn+1 = f(xn). Understand and use sigma notation for sums and series.
Understand and use the definitions of secant, cosecant and cotangent and of arcsin, arccos and arctan; their relationships to sine, cosine and tangent; understanding of their graphs; their ranges and domains. Understand and use the expressions for a cos O + b sin O in the equivalent forms of r cos (O ± a) or r sin (O ± a)
